We are like the reserves, but with a lot more benefits and we deploy less. We offer up to $9000 a year for tuition assistance, $625 a month direct deposited into your bank account just for going to college full time and a drill check. We also offer the opportunity to go to college for 2 years without ANY federal deployments. On top of that if you are not covered by your health insurance our maybe even it would be more cost effective to drop your insurance, we offer health insurance for 49 dollars a month for singles and 180 for families; that comes with a $1000 cap (never spend more than $1000 in a year no matter what happens). Plus all of your medical visits on base and medication are free. So that is an amazing thing there. For training you would go to basic training (boot camp) for 10 weeks and then would go to job school which can range from 4 weeks (infantry) to several months (military police or communications). The National Guard requires you to go to drill one weekend a month and two weeks during the summer, that is why we say part time. Also, with the national guard you will never have to move. you will pick a unit within the state and will stay at that unit unless you request to transfer.
